EVERY WORD TRUE

AMY STANDS TO HER WORDS. CRITICISES THE AERO CLUB. Received May 5, 6.45 p.m. LONDON, May 5. Mrs. Amy Mollison declares that every word regarding the incident in Poland was true and unless the Aero Club apologises for an unwarrantable public reprimand she is prepared to take action. Mrs. Mollison says the Aero Club has no authority to issue a reprimand. If official censure were due it would be from tho Air Ministry.

The Aero Club censured Mrs. Mollison for her recent article in a Sunday newspaper containing a “somewhat lurid description of her forced landing in Poland.” The Polish Aero Club protested to the British Club, which has written to Amy to the effect that it is satisfied that her statement was baseless and it cannot accept the explanation that the facts were distorted without her knowledge, as tho responsibility for signed articles rests with herself. The club counts it a matter of honour that misrepresentations should not be returned for hospitality. The club was induced only by the gravity of the affront to Polish airmen to inform Amy of its disapprobation. A copy has been forwarded to Poland, accompanied by apologies and an expression of apprecaition of Polish hospitality. Amy Mollison made a statement deploring the unethical and unchivalrous way the Aero Club had dealt with the controversy and the unpardonable publication of private correspondence without permission. Mrs. Mollison’s article described a forced descent in Poland, during her Tokio flight in 1931. The aeroplane overturned and a dozen peasants surrounded the plane. “A big, dirty-bearded evil-looking man with eyes that looked at mo greedily, demanded money.” Later he tried to drag Amy from a sleitrh into a hut.
