OPENING OF GOLF CLUB The opening of the Mangaweka Golf Club took plave on tho links on Wednesday afternoon. Although the weather was very unsettled, about 30 players wer e present. A match was played, Mr T. Stroud presenting the best card with a seore „ of 33 nett. Mr D. Saywell and Mr J. KO ’Callaghan tied for second place with a seore of 35 nett each. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies. GIRL GUIDES The. sixth anniversary of the formation of tho Mangaweka Girl Guides was celebrated iu the Guide Hall on Wednesday last. A large number of Guides were present, together with the committee and the local Boy Scout troop. Games and dancing were indulged in and a very pleasant time was spent. A very line birthday cake was presented by the president. Mrs J. Glenn. Mrs T. Pairman, district commissioner, presented several badges and wished the Guides another successful year. BRIDGE CLUB A largely-attended meeting at the Bridge Club was held in the Girl Guide Hall on Thursday afternoon. It was decided that the season open at an early this to be fixed when arrange- » ments were made for the use of the Guide Hall.
