TYPE AND PRODUCTION

The well-known Christchurch breeder, J. I. Royds, of Fem Salton, has four cows in his pedigree Friesian herd which are excellent examples of the fact that typo and production are often to be found as a combination in the Friesian breed.

Springfield No. 17. Canterbury Show, champion, 1929, 20,5641 b. milk, 7711 b. fat. Bainfield Dairy Sylvia, champion, 1926, 18,3101 b. milk, 6211 b. fat.

Fcndalton Sylvia Posch, reserve 1930, champion 1931, 18,1451 b. milk 58()lb. fat, as a junior 3-year-old.

Fendalton Midget Posch 2nd, reserve 1929, champion 1930, 15,7071 b. milk. G2oib. fat (private herd test on twice a-day milking).

The above awards have been made under five different judges, and Mr. Royds regards it as a tribute to their work that, while judging on type oply. their choice has fallen on cows which have proved their productive capacity.
