TEMPER IN THE BOX. Joseph Henry Bentley, aged 26, a medical student at Middlesex Hospital, went into a telephone box at the Aldersgate Railway Station on Febru ary 23 fur the purpose of ringing up his father. He had difficulty in “getting through” anujie became angry. He banged the receiver down on to the transmitter so violently that it was damaged, A railway porter who saw the incident called the police, with the result that at the police court the next day Bentley had to pay £3 19s 5d for that telephone call. He was fined 20s for wilfully damaging the receiver, ordered to pay £2 2s costs, and 15s 5d to make good the damage.
