THOMPSON—RAMSBOTTOM Wedding bells rang in Patea last Wednesday when the marriage took place between Rene Jessie, youngest daughter of the Mayor and Mayoress of Patea (Air and Mrs F. Ramsbottom) to Cyril Ernest, eldest son of Mr and Airs Herbert Thompson, of Grey Lynn, Auckland. The ceremony, which took place in St. George’s Church, was performed by the Rev. W. H. Walton, J while full choral accompaniment was given to the service, the choir, of which the bride had been a keen member, attending in surplice. Airs E. AlcGregor (Waitotara) cousin of the bride, presided at the organ. Escorted by her father, the bride entered the church, followed by her bridesmaid and tiny flower-girl, taking their places at the altar steps beneath a beautifu*. white wedding bell. Church decorations, including the bell, had been carried out by girl friends of the bride. The bride was wearing a gown of white georgette, with flared ankle-length skirt, tight-fitting-sleeves with tiny flared cuffs, and insets of silk lace in the skirt, an ’. forming a bolero on the bodice. Aliss Mabel Thompson, sister of the bridegroom, was her bridesmaid, and looked very charming in a gown of hyacinth blue floral georgette. The dress was worn with shoulder cape, long sleeves, flared skirt to the ankles, and accompanied with blue crinoline hat with blue satin ribbon trimming, and bouquet of sweet peas and maidenhair fern. Blue and white kid shoes and beige stockings completed the ensemble. Tiny fair-haired Phyllis Rook was the flower-girl, dressed in forget-me-not blue satin, the dress being made on Kate Greenaway style, with hem frills, and tiny puffed sleeves. Her bonnet was of blue rucked satin, while she wore tiny blue shoes, and carrid a florist’s basket of pale pink sweet peas and maidenhair fern. Air F. T. Ramsbottom, brother of the bride, carried out the duties of best man. On the bridal party's departure from the church, the choir formed the guard- of honour, through which they passed to the usual accompaniment of rice and confetti. The reception was held in the Town Hall supper-room, where some seventy guests were entertained by the bride’s parents. Airs Ramsbottom received her guests wearing a costume of new navy blue, with black Bangkok straw hat, grey fox fur, and carrying a bouquet of red roses and maidenhair fern. The breakfast tables were adorned with bowls of iceland poppies and sweet peas, while the three-tiered wedding cake occupied the place of honour at the top table, with bowls of beautiful pastel-shaded water-lilies on either side. At the conclusion of the breakfast, the bridal couple left by car for the north on their honeymoon, the bride wearing- a coca brown silk frock, brown cellophane straw hat, and brown musquash fur coat, with handbtg, shoes and stockings to tone. The bouquets and floral decorations were all the gift of Mrs C. Carey. Among the guests present were the bridegroom’s father and mother, the latter wearing a model frock of beige floral celanese, with black crinoline straw hat, and carried a bouquet of pink sweet peas. Others present were: Air and Mrs Bourne (Wanganui), uncle and aunt of the bride; and Aliases E., O. and B. Bourne; Mr and Mrs T.
