BOROUGH ELECTION. For the vacancy in the Borough Council caused through the resignation of Cr. G. H. Parkes, owing to his removal from the district, there were three nominations made on Saturday. Mr, Leslie F. Baird, an ex-councillor who did not seek re-election at the last election, was proposed by Messrs W. Harris. D. P. Scarfe, W. H. Sandford and J. H. Stanley. Mr. Thomas Dobson was proposed by Messrs Patrick Carroll and A. G. Laloli. Mr. Lester D. Whyte was proposed by Messrs. A. FL Rose and R. J. Mosen. Mr. Whyte is the president of the local branch of the Labour Partv and the president of the Workers’ Advancement League, while Mr. Dobson was the secretary of the W.P.W.M. until the last annual meeting. It is stated that a number of names have been added to the electors’ roll since the vacancy was announced and it is expected there will bo big polling on Wednesday next, November 9.
