MAJESTIC THEATRE

“AMATEUR DADDY” OPENS. With Warner Baxter and Marion s . Nixon in the main roles, "Amateur e Daddy,” an entertaining Fox drama, e opens at the Majestic Theatre e to-day. In this heart-stirring photoB play Baxter returns to- his most g universally-liked role, that of an averf age American. Miss Nixon, too, is seen ~ in the wistful, emotional sort of role in which the public loves her best. Toh gether, they make a romantic team of e believable sincerity. Briefly, the plot a of “Amateur Daddy” revolves about ■ the experiences of a shy batchelor who o takes over the care of a family of waifs when an accident robs them of their ’- father. Although he makes a mistake s in families, through a logical mix-up of i two Minith families living in the same s town, the children he adopts are truly 1 in need of assistance, so this minor 1 point is easily forgotten, especially - when it is learned that the oldest * daughter, played by Miss Nixon, is t aware from the start that Baxter has - adopted the wrong Smiths. Witnessing e Miss Nixon’s brave fight to keep her . younger brother and Two baby sisters t from becoming wards of the county, . Baxter is inevitably drawn into c romance with this strange young girl, r Thoir amusing experiences with the - children, and their desperate struggle - against the opposition of the neigh- - hours, bring tho plot to its stirring draI matic climax. An exceptionally strong [ supporting cast headed by Rita Laßoy, t William Pawley and David Landau rounds out the excellency of the picture. Frankie Darro, Joan Brcslaw, Gail Kornfeld, and Joo Hachey, as the four children, each contribute much to the entertainment qualities. Heading the supporting programme is another line Mickey the House cartoon, this time called "Barnyard Broadcast.” It is the sequel to "Barnyard Olympics,” - which scored so heavily recently. t QUEEN ALEXANDRA’S OWN BAND i t REGENT THEATRE. J To enable Mr Graham, a visitor to .
