MEDIATION HOPELESS. Received July 29, 8.50 p.m. OTTAWA, July 28. Interviewed by an Ottawa newspapers, Lord Hailsham denied that Mr. Bennett had offered to mediate between the Free State and Britain. “What’s the use of mediating with a man like Mr. de Valera, who told me that he wants a republic with Ulstei included,” said Lord Hailsham. “Ulster does not want to enter and therefore Air. de Valera’s hope is impossible of achievement.
