WAHAROA CHEESE FACTORY

LARGEST IN NEW ZEALAND Good progress has been made with rhe erection of tho New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company’s new cheese factory at Waharoa. The construction work has been about half completed, and the factory is expected to be ready to receive supplies at the beginning of August. Milk-powder groups of suppliers at Waharoa, Waitoa and Te Awamutu are financing the factory, the reason being that the annual production of powder has exceeded annual sales,, and an outlet other than milk-powder had to be found to relieve the position. Surplus supplies of milk will be manufactured into cheese at the new factory. It is

proposed that the capital provided by the milk-powder shareholders to finance the erection of the cheese factory will be paid off in two years.

The. factory will bo equipped with 11 vats of 1000-gallon capacity and will have a manufacturing capacity of 2000 tons. It will be the largest cheese factory in Now Zealand.
