LOOK. PUKE ITES! THE "P.D.” SUGGESTS A "CHEERIO” NIGHT.

Dear Wendy,—Ho! Ho! What have we amongst us now? Why it was the ‘Puke P.D.’s Lieutenant.” creeping around -my windows, and J was so sure it was only Cupid’s footsteps, but then what mistaken illusions one comes to some times. 1 am sure I would have seen, my mistake had I taken the trouble to look round, At any rate, .1 thank you, Wendy, for warning me and L will certainly take the necessary precautions next time. With all these new Ites amongst us, I will have to bo very careful, but nevertheless I’m happy, so happy, walking on air; I know that she loves me. so what do 1 care. Now, Puke Ites, this is where you conic in. 1 want suggestions from everyone. The “Puke P.D. hr Sweetheart” can decide which suits her best. When and where are we to have this wedding? We cannot do without a “Padre.” best man and bridesmaid and so forth,, but I am sure if thgre Is no one left who wishes to join we can pick these out of our present Wendy list. Everyone can bring a mask and no names will be disclosed. Just a real “cheerio” night for the younger folks who do not get to the card parties. Of course, any Puke Ites are welcome to bring- in any outside Wendy Ite. Thanking you, Wendy, I will new close, hoping you arc quite well. Best of love and good wishes, especially to yourself and the “Puke PJD.’s Sweetheart,” and a wee bit of Jove to all the Ites.—-Prom “THE PUKE P.D.” Pukeite. Yes, you will have to be most careful indeed, because after your “Lieutenant” giving away so many secrets, the greatest secrecy will need to be resorted to in order to preserve your, as yet, mysterious identity. I think yours ig a wonderful idea, and we will first see how many will attend the “cheerio” night.—Wendy. “SWEET JENNY LEE” SEEKS TO CATCH GLIMPSE OF “PUKE P.D.” Dear Wendy,—Here I am again after such a long absence. Wo are having such a time in Pukeite after this “Puke P.D.” He still remains a mystery and I can tell you he can dodge us, but now I have settled down on top of a big pine tree, just waiting to get a glimpse of him the next time he goes past. I think I have found out the “Puke P.D.’s Lieutenant’s” identity and also “Lonesome Pine’s.” Oh, dear, Wendy, yes I know I am not very courageous, but I am having a few teeth out, and it isn’t a very cheerful thing, is it? Never mind, they have to come out sooner or later, so why worry? Well, Wendy, it is getting late now, sb I had bettor close and go and get some sleep. Cheerio for now.—From your loving Ite “SWEET JENNY LEE,” Pukeite. I wonder if you will ever discover the “Puke P.D.”? He appears to be most elusive, doesn’t he? Yes, you are very wise to have the teeth out if they are decayed. Bad teeth are the cause of mu ci illness. —Wendy. « “WHAT A LOT OF ITES THERE ARE IN WAVERLEY NOW,” SAYS OUR DEAR “BROWN EYES.” Dear Wendy,—l am sitting out in the sun, while I write to you. What a lot of Ites there are in Waverley now. More join every week. I wonder who “Darling Minus” can be? 1 am sure I don’t dive Into the Ladies’ Rest Room. I am not the only girl who stays iu there on Thursday afternoon, as that is where we hold the Girls’ Club, and there are about thirty girls, besides me. I wonder what has happened to “Miss Waverley”? I went to a football match recently. Waverley were playing against Waitotara Public Works and Waverley won 23 —3. I was pleased when my cousin rang up and told me that tho All Blacks had -won the second test. My brother went to his last hunt last Saturday week. 1 was up town on Friday and saw “Wood Violet,” but did not get a chance to talk to her. I was with “Little Rcwa” at the time, and we were off to basketball. Well,. Wendy, wo played the school team again and they beat us this time, 7—6. Never mind, it was a good game, and everybody enjoyed it. I think we are going to play them again soon, so we will wish for better luck next time. 1 was talking to a lady up town on Friday and she seems to know nearly al] the Ites in Waverley. She goes to the hunts, but I don’t think she knows “Thistledown’s iDcar” and “Thistledown’s Other Dear.” She knows “Thistledown” and a good few other Ites, but I can’t find out where she gets her information from. Wasn’t it sad about the gas tragedy, Wendy? One of the men who died was “King’s Pal’s” uncle. Well, I must close now, dear Wendy, as I have another letter to answer. Best of love to all the Ites and yourself—From “BROWN EYES,” C.W.K., Wendy dale. Yes, dear, our clan in Waverley is indeed a large one, and as you say, more join our ranks each week. What a victory for Waverley. The basketball result was close, though, wasn’t it? Wonderful game, basketball. Dear me, but 1 am sad to hear that one of the well victims was our “King’s Pal’s” uncle. It was indeed a sad tragedy.— Wendy. INDUSTRIOUS ITE WINS SPECIAL AT WOOL DISPLAY. Dear Wendy,—How are you getting on these cold mornings? Our school master is in hospital; I hope he will soon recover. “Merry Jinglu Bells” is busy writing to you, too. Wo have another Angora rabbit. Tho Hut carpenter will soon have to add another room, won’t he? Everybody has the knitting craze, and I think it is a very useful pastime. I knitted a scarf for a wool display held in Taihape a few weeks ago, and I was lucky enough to receive a special prize. This is all for now. — From “BETTY BLY,” C.W.K., Wendy downs. I am keeping quito well, thank you, dear, and I hope you are well, too. Oh. dear, poor teacher; I hope she is si-Z quite well. Yes, tho Hut’s carpenter will soon have to build us another ad dition. Haven’t our ranks grown of late? Knitting is a splendid pastime indeed, and a profitable one, too. Oh. bravo! So you won a special. T am proud of you.—Wendy.
