NEW BANK BUILDING
ERECTION IN NAPIER TENDERS TO BE CALLED NAPIER, July 27. Tenders are to be called at an early date for the erection of a new block of offices for the Napier branch of the Union Bank of Australia. This is the third bank of the six operating in Napier to announce its return, to permanent premises. The announcement has been welcomed among business men and other citizens, particularly in view of the criticism which has constantly been levelled at the banks and insurance companies for their tardiness in reestablishing -themselves in permanent premises.
Other banks which will make an early return to permanent premises are the Commercial Bank of Australia, for which a new building is close on completion, and the Bank of Australasia, which announced the finalisa tion of plans a few weeks ago. Building contracts let this week include one for £ll,OOO for the erectibn of a block of premises for Blythes, Limited, one of the leading drapery firms
