PATEA

COURSING. With wintry weather conditions on the first day, and cold but sunny weather on the second day, there was not the large attendance hoped for at the meeting of the Patea Coursing Club held at Plumptou Park, Whenuakura. last Wednesday ami yesterday. There was a large number of entries, totalling 34 in all, and the standard of the runs was the cause of \ery favourable comment. All but the semi-finals and finals in the Black an.l White Cup ami the V.C. Trophy were run the first ■lay, the more exciting runs being witnessed on the second day. Mr. Watts’ (Inglewood) Sporting Pal won the Black and White Cup from his second dog, Mon Desir. Mon Desir put up one of the best runs of the day in an earlier run in the semifinals against Mr. W. Jensen’s Silver Hope, but had no chance to recover for the final. The final run was a good one, however, after a no-eourse being given for the first run for the final, both dogs gaining equal points. Another good run was between Silver Hope and Gold Sovereign, Silver Hope winning to run in the semi-final. Sporting Pal won from Mon Desir by 13$ points to 1, Mon Desir being unable to keep up to Sporting Pal. For tho V.C. Trophy, Mr. J. Shore’r Black Bat won from Messrs.
