MAORI RELIEF WORKERS

ORGANISATION SET UP At a meeting of Maoris engaged on relief works, and representatives oi several of the Hapus of the Wanganui district, held on Monday evening last, it was unanimously agreei} that a Maori Relief Workers’ Section of the Labour Movement be established along lines consistent with the constitution founded by the Wellington body, and recently accepted by relief workers in tho Wanganui district.

The office bearers for the ensuing 12 months were elected as follows: President, Mr. R. Marumaru; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. T. Paewai and H. Whakarau; secretary-treasurer, Mr. ET. Sutherland; minute secretary, Mr. G. Whakarau; assistant-secretary, Miss W. Marumaru; trustees (subject to their consent), Messrs. M. K. Takarangi, Rima Whakarau and Hocroa Marumaru. Members for the executive council and complaints committee were also elected. The above was submitted to the Wanganui branch of the Relief Workers ’ Section of the Labour Movement at its meeting last Tuesday night and was duly endorsed.
