GREAT INCREASE IN KILLING NEW RECORD FOB LAMB In view oi the reducHon or over 1J56,000 sheep in. the Dominion as de•ribed by the interim report for April 30, the statement of killings of live stock for export, issued by the Meat Board, are of more than usual interest. For the 8J months of the present season to June 15 the killings of lamb were a record and totalled 8,321,788 carcases, an increase of 1,028,625 carcases on the corresponding period of last season. For the North Island the lamb killings totalled 4,148,610 earcases, an increase of 787,221. The South Island killings were greater than in the North at 4,173,178 carcases, an increase of 241,404 on the 1930-31 figures. Killings of sheep at 2,833,590 show an increase of 852,441 carcases. The bulk of the killings were in the North Island, the figure of 2,205,128 representing an increase of 609,941 carcases. In the South Island the killings of mutton were 628,462 carcases, an increase of 242,500. The killings of all stock for export in the Dominion during the 8j months'’ period this season and last compare as follow;

Increased Exports Exports of frozen meat during the 84 months to Juno 15 show increases in all cases except pork, as compared with those of last season as follow:

*Decrease. In addition 141,978 bags of boneless beef (mainly for Glasgow) were shipped, as compared with 79,813 bags for the same period last season. The stocks of frozen meat in store in the Dominion as at June 15 compare as follow:

Overseas Shipments The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board is advised from its London office that the shipments from Australia and South America to the United Kingdom during the first half of June were as follow: Australia: 5673 careases mutton; 13,828 earcases lamb; 22,060 quarters beef. South America: 26,894 careases mutton; 94,277 carcases lamb; 2556 quarters beef (frozen); 209,401 quarters beef (chilled). The shipments from Patagonia were nil.

The shipments from New Zealand to the United Kingdom for the same period were as f0110w:—143,786 careases mutton, 535,167 carcases lamb, 17,784 quarters beef.
