Insurance Against Depression Easing the Burden of Transport THAT some of the causes of the present depression in New Zealand are beyond the people’s control is admitted, but there are some obstacles in the way of a return to normal conditions which can be appreciably reduced, If not entirely removed. The rise in the internal transport costs of the Dominion during recent years—due to the excessive provision of transport facilities—is a burden on industry and trade. A reduction in this over-loading by co-ordination of essential links in the chain of transport units (of which the Railways are the most important) would be of material benefit to the Dominion as a whole.
