General Situation.—The front of an extensive anti-cyclone has moved on to New Zealand, while a depression has been passing to the northwards.

Forecast.—Winds: Moderate to strong southerly, of gale force in exposed positions in and north of Cook Strait. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough to rough generally. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh southerly winds, rough seas. Weather: Cold and changeable with scattered showers, but mainly fair in western districts and gradually improving generally. Some severe frosts in the South Island.
