VALEDICTORY. The residents *of Mangacturoa assembled at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. C. Aislabie to bid them farewell and to wish them every success in their new home near Ohingaiti. Mr. Aislabie has been In Waimarino for about 13 years and for the last seven years the family have lived at Man gaeturoa. Mr Clementson, on behalf of th* settlers of the district, expressed ra gret at the departure of Mr and Mrs Aislabie. They had shown themselves good neighbours and worthy settlers and everyone wished them happinu** and much success in their new home As a token of esteem Mr. and Mr? Aislabie were presented with a hand seme tea service and the children 4 number of smaller gifts. Mr. Aislabie returned thanks for the many kindnesses shown them and for the beautiful gifts and expressions o:’ appreciation for what they had donfor the district. During the evening songs were rendered by Mr. B. Gibbons and Mrs. Aislabie and others. An enjo/.'ble evening was spent in drncing and was brought to n conclusion by the sjng'ng of “For he’s a jolly good fellow” and cheers for the parting gues*s. ' GENERAL. While motoring through Ohakune on the Rangatua Road Mr. George Anderson, jun., sustained a broken nose and several minor injuries owing to the forks of his motor-cycle snapping and throwing him to the ground. He was taken by car to Raetihi and promptly attended to by /Dr. Feltham. The first general meeting of the newly-formed Workers’ Advancement League was held last Wednesday, when further office-bearers were elected and other routine business transacted. A community sing arranged by the Workers’ Advancement League was held in the theatre on Friday and was well attended. Messrs Eastman and Watson were the leaders, and solos were given by Misses Urwin, Keucke and others. A Maori party rendered several items that were much appreciated. Mesrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co. announce ato entry of about 900 sheep and 40 dairy cattle for their stock sale on Friday.
