WEATHER FORECAST
General Situation.—The recent depression is passing eastwards, and barometers are rising with the advance of an intense anti-cyclone over the Tasman Sea. A slight depression is at present moving to the north of Norfolk Island. Forecast. —Winds: Moderate to strong south-westerly to southerly, reaching gale force in places. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough generally. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong southerly winds and rough seas, but wind and sea gradually moderating. Weather; Cold and showery with snow on the ranges, and also on parts of the low country of the South Island. Further hail at places on the coast, but improving soon in western districts of the South Island. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 4 hours 30 minutes. Rainfall, .08 inches. Shade temperature, maximum 52 deg. Fahr., mniimum 44 deg. Fahr. Phases of the Moon.—June. New moon, June 4; first quarter, June 12; full moon, June 19; last quarter, June 26.
