NEW ZEALAND AFFAIRS MEETING O” COUNCIL. WANGANUI INSURANCE SCHEME. [ Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 28. The Council of the New Zealand Football Association is not at present prepared to guarantee to send a New Zealand team to Australia next yc.ar, although if conditions improve the council is entirely favourable to the resumption of the exchange of visits.

This decision followed the receipt to-night of a letter from the Australian Association, which asked if the council would consider sending a New Zealand team to Australia in 1933. The chairman, Afr. F. Campbel], remarked that if conditions improved the New Zealand Association would be glad to send a team to Australia, but they could not pledge themselves at present. The Otago Association reported that the “gate” at the Otago-Canterbury match for the F.A. Trophy was £l3O, and there was a profit of £3O. Afr. C. P. Smith, Dunedin, has been appointed referee for the Otago-Wel-lington game. The North Auckland Association wrote saying that it was not in favour of the internal insurance scheme as suggested by the Wanganui Association. Their ow’n scheme was giving entire satisfaction. North Auckland also asked if something could be done toward interesting other associations to challenge for the Brown Shield. Associations reported the secretary, had been circulartscd accordingly. North Auckland Association intimated that it was prepared to receive a challenge from South Auckland this ‘season. The chairman reported that both Wanganui and Huntly Associations had replied that they could not undertake the primary schools’ tournament. Applictions had also boon received for grants towards the travelling expenses of teams playing in the tournament, but the council could not make any grants in that direction. Mr. S. C. Shcddon reported that the Wellington Primary Schools’ Association wigs desirous of holding a tourney and it was agreed that if it could be managed it should be held at Wellington, although the chairman thought it would lead to applications for grants. It was agreed to leave the matter in the hands of Afr. Shedden to sec if the tournament can be arranged to be held in Wellington. The chairman reported that there ap•eared to have been a little trouble in Hawke’s Bay, and Mr. F. J. Spears had resigned the secretaryship to that association. He was so keen, however, that the chairman was sure be would soon be back in the game again. It was decided to allow until August 6 to find the finalists between Otago and Canterbury in the Chatham Cup competition. If South Auckland detents Auckland ir the Chatham Cup, the match between the South Auckland and Wellington finalists will be played in Hamilton.
