ST. JOHN’S CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD. PROFIT ON YEAR’S OPERATIONS The usual excellent attendance of members was registered at the annua] meeting of members of the St. John’s Bowling Club on Monday evening, Air. F. Moffatt presiding at the Central Hall. The annual report ami balance-sheet, which were approved *md adopted, showed that, in spite of the decrease in the membership, a profit was made in the year’s operations, while debentures to the extent of £3O had been paid off. Congratulations were extended by several members to the Alanagcment Committee on the able manner in which they had conserved the club’s finances, and a motion that thi- fact be entered on the minutes was carried by acclamation. The election of officers resulted in all the retiring officials being re-elected, while Mr. Harris was elected to the committee in place of Air. Goodey, whose resignation was accepted with regret. The officials for the year are: President, Air. J. Afoffatt; vice-presi-dent, Afr. F. Wight; hon. secretary and treasurer, Afr. H. Rowling; green supervisor, Air. J. B. Jack; auditor, Mr. T. Ballingall; committee (from 13 nominations) Messrs. W. G. Herd, R. J. Sewell, W. Af. • Falconer, G. S. Gordon. L. H. Bassett, A. H. Benefield. R. Michie, C. Rhodes, and H. S. Harris; Centre delegates, Alessrs. Aloffatt. Gordon and Sewell; match committee, Messrs. Herd, Benefield and Moffatt. A motion to reduce the club’s sub scripiton was withdrawn in favour of i one to leave the matter to the committee to reduce the subscription if eonidered advisable. The subscription for first year nlayers as new members was fixed at £2 10s for one year only. The Centre report and balance-sheet .was read. It was decided to recommend to the i Centre that a pairs tournament be run on similar lines to the singles tournament inaugurated last season. Another recommendation to the Centre was that they endeavour to have the Dominion levy reduced. A motion to alter the Nixon Cup la.«wification was defeated. A motion that the club revert to the Ponsonby system in the club rinks competition was defeated, the meeting deciding that the Match Committee select the teams, which will then play as they did last season. The club pairs competition this season will be three-bowl pairs instead of four-bowl pairs, 21 heads being played instead of 16 heads. It was also decided to run an evening rinks competition on the Ponsonby system, the competition to start as early in January as possible.
