I Lord Chancellor Rich, to whom it was granted by Henry VIIL at the suppression of the monasteries, converted th® tower into a residence. It comprises to-day one large room, which Canon Savage will use as a dining and sit-ting-room. a bedroom and bathroom, and, higher, a kitchen <] sliproom. Tho rooms were built by Sir Philip Scudamore in 1595.
