Long Service. The 40th year of his appointment to the New Plymouth Harbour Board has been commenced by Mr. E. Maxwell, who was first elected on May 9, 1893. The chairman (Mr. C. E. Bellringer), who is himself in his 21st. year of membership. said at the meeting of the board that it was pleasing to know that all the members offering themselves at the recent election had been reappointed. It showed that the hoard had the confidence of the ratepayers, who apparently recognised that the board had done its best under the circumstances and had imposed a rate only as a lost resort.
