POLICE HUNTED
GANGSTEBS IN CHICAGO. MACHINE-GUN IN ACTION. CHICAGO, May 9. Five Chicago gangsters to-day wen’, boldly hunting for the police with machine-guns. Two officers, with revolvers, had in terrupted a hold-up, but the gunmen’s motor-car outdistanced the police. Smarting for revenge, the bandits returned shortly with a machine-gun. The detectives in the meantime had started their breakfast at the Roxy Hotel. They were compelled to drop to the floor while the gangsters sprayed the police car and the fron' of tho restaurant with successive volleys, as they drove backwards and forwards in front, of the hotel.
