HAWAII OUTPOST
MILITARY CONTROL (San Francisco Press Broadcast. > WASHINGTON, May IS. Military control of Hawaii as a first outpost of defence in the Pacific was proposed in a Bill introduced in the House to-day by Representative Brit ten (Republican), of Illinois. The measure was inspired both by the Massie “honour slaying” case and the strategic importance of the islands. It would require the President ■_o name a Governor of Hawaii from officers of the Army and Navy, eithei of the active or retired lists. Under present law the Governor must be a CJl.zen of Hawaii.
