General Situation. —An anti-cyclone still covers the Dominion, while a slight depression continues to pass to the southward. Forecast. —Winds: Between north west and south-west prevailing, light to moderate generally, but strong at times about Foveaux Strait. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough in Foveaux Strait, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea; Light to moderate variable winds gradually tending northerly. Weather: Fair to fine in most districts, but some showers likely in Westland and the far south. The New Zealand Friends’ School, Wanganui, report for 24 hours up to 6 p.m. yesterday. Shade temperature, maximum 58 deg. Fahr.,; minimum 43 deg. Fahr. Rainfall, nil. Phases of the Moon.— May: new moon. May 6; first quarter. May 14; full moon, May 20; last quarter. May 27.
