ACTS OF VANDALISM
HOLES BORED IN LAUNCHES. CRAFT FOUND SINKING. WELLINGTON, May IP. What appears to be a case of wilful destruction occurred at Worser Bay late last night or early this morning. Two thirty-foot motor launches, which were anchored in the bay, were discovered shortly before 7 o’clock this morning to be in a sinking condition. The boats were beached, and an investigation disclosed that holes had been bored in the hulls beneath the water line. When first seen tho launches were very low in the water, and it is estimated that had they remained at their anchorages another half an hour they would have sunk. Two holos had been bored in one boat and three in tho other. The holes are not very big, and were probably made with a brace and bit or an auger. Tho interiors of both launches were considerably damaged by sea water. One launch is owned by Mr. Willimas, of Breaker Bay, and the other by Mr. James, of Soatoun.
