WON BY PROFESSIONAL QUEENSLAND OPEN TITLE. BRISBANE, May 20. Charles Brown, a professional, won the open golf championship of Queensland with an aggregate of 286.7. Howard (Sydney) scored 287; J. Cohen (Queensland) 290; H. von Nida (Queensland), 292. Nida is only a lad and has just graduated from the ranks. LEEDS TOURNAMENT SURPRISES AT MOORTOWN. NINE PUTTS ON NINE GREEN'S LONDON, May 19. At Moortown in the Leeds champion* ship tournament tho first round results were as follow : —Cotton beat Green, 4 up and 3. Seymour beat Havers, 1 up. Burton beat Denny at the 20th hole. Rhodes boat. Duncan, .1 up. Jacobs beat Twine at the 19th hole. R. Whitcombe boat Fadgliain, 2 up and 1. Wolliscrnft beat Compstun at the 20th hole. In the second round Barber beat. Cotton, 5 up and 4, Seymour boat Burton, 2 up. Rhodes boat Allis, 3up and 2. Whitcombe boat Kenyon. 2 up and 1 R. Whitcombo beat Wolliscrot't at the 19th help. Fasterbrook beat Sayner, 3 up and 2. Hodgson beat Buckle. 6 up and 4. Rhodes was Duncan’s ex assistant and beat his old master. Barber is the Midland champion. He played golf which Bobby Jones could hardly have withstood. He went out in 32 and took only one putt on each of the nine greens. Jacoba, a youngster, made a name by beating Twine.
