RACING AT TE RAPA

TO-MORROW S MEETING BRIEF REVIEW OF CARD (By “Kestrel”) Excellent fields are featured in the eight events which figure on the card for the Waikato Racing Club s meeting. which will be held at tho Te Rapa course to-morrow. There may be several scratchings, but the fields all round should be really good. As a matter of fact, so many acceptors remain in the Fairfield Handicap that divisions will be necessitated unless there are three or more scratchings. V point worth noting about this event is the fact that a sweepstakes of £2 each for starters adds decidedly to the winning stake. As quite a number of the contestants will be seen out at the Auck land Racing Club’. Great Northern meeting next month, much interest will be displayed in the fixture. If the Fairfield Handicap is run as one race the large field may present a problem for some of the runners. However. the chances, of Chateau, Karepa and Emancipation may be favoured. Sports King is likely to be fancied for the Maiden Hurdles, and Letrim and Trowbridge will also have friends. Of the nine carded for the Winter Handicap, Little Doubt should make most appeal if started, while King’s Archer ami Eager Rose may also be in demand. Backers may have the Make UpLandmark bracket to give them four chances in the Waikato Steeplechase, though the pair also claim the Open Hurdle engagement. After the Corry bracket, Wiltshire, Lucess and Slump r.iake most appeal. Some of those engaged in tho Flying Handicap may do better at the Ellerslie meeting.' bnt Chromadyne, Imamint and Speedmi.it are a trio that will appeal. Cruachan's form at the Egmont

meeting draws attention to his chances in the Open Hurdles, an - he may be ’deferred to Standfast and Luminary. A large fold will contest the Whitiioa Hack Handicap, and three that may be • . favour are Woodful, Glen rata and o-ing Win. Little Doubt also claims an engagement in the concluding event, the Horotiu Handicap, but as the distance is only a mile, his connections may prefer the ten.furlong race earlier in the afternoon. Lucy Rose. Flying Prince and Lucky Alice will be supported.
