SHUT UP FOR 19 YEARS
STRANGE STORY REVEALED Following the death of a 64-year-old woman, Anna Aloersch, at Gers, a village in the Eifel district of Germany, the authorities have discovered that two sisters and a brother-in-law had kept her imprisoned in a small room in their inn for 19 years. During that period no one other than her three re lativcs saw the woman, whose body is said to weigh less than 4st. Among peasants of the district the dead woman’s relatives had a reputa t.ion of possessing supernatural powers. Consequently, when, years ago, the woman disappeared from view, no one said anything about it, fearing that an evil eye would be placed on their cattle and pigs if they did. Tho sisters and brother-in-law main tain that Anna was weak-minded, and could not bo permitted to see anyone.
