OLD BOYS’ RE-UNION THE EASTEK PROGRAMME. Ideal conditions prevailed on Saturday when the Wanganui Collegiate School commenced its scries of con tests against the old boys. Cricket and tennis held chief interest during the morning, and in the afternoon a rowing race between visiting and local old boys attracted considerable attention. Dur ing the afternoon the headmaster of St. George’s School, Air. Al. Fell and Airs. Fell were “at home” to old boys and parents of the school. Batting first the old boys were dis missed for the total of 117 runs. J Marshall being the top scorer with 45 runs to his credit. Bowling for schoo' Jackman (three frr 11) and Croppe T (four for 1*) did best. Bright batting was seen when school opened their inn ings. Even rowing was seen between a crew of local old boys competing against visiting old boys when crews took the water at three o’clock. There was a large gathering on the bank to watch the race. From an even start the local crew held a slight advantage but there was little to chose between the crews as they shot the Dublin Street Bridge. The visitors had the smoother of the water and kept closer into the Somme Parade than the local crew who began to make heavy going shortly after the groyne opposite Har risen Street was passed. A mishap to the local crew cost them a length and with a quarter of a mile to go they were unable to make up the leeway, the visitors leading them homo by a length. Bullock-Douglas Following is to-day’s programme:— 9.15 a.m.—Relay race, school v. old boys, followed by tug-of-war and old boys’ race. 10 a.m.—Swimming, school v. old boys, and commencement of tennis, school v. old boys. 10.45 a.m.—Boat race, school v. old boys. 11.30 a.m.—Old boys* annual meeting in school library. 1.15 p.m. —Old boys’ luncheon in dining hall. 2.30 p.m.—Football match, school v old boys. 4 to 6 p.m.—Headmaster and Mrs Allen “at home’’ to old boys and friends. 8.30 p.m.—Old boys’ ball in big school.
