VETERAN’S DEATH

MR. JOHN ANDREWS I Per Press Association. ] NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 17. The death occurred to-day of Mr. John Andrews, aged 89, a Maori war veteran and a highly respected pioneer settler. He was born in New Plymouth and after serving in the war spent some years in the South Island goldfields, eventually taking up land in Taranaki, He was elected to the Provincial Council in 1875, and served on many local bodies in Taranaki.
