SWIMMING The second of a series of three races for the President’s Cup competition was held in the Marton Baths on Tuesday evening over 75 jards. The third of tho series will be swum over a distance of 100 yards next Tuesday evening. Results were as follows: First heat: Wilkie (44sec) and Bush (3sec), equal, 1; Gibbons (go) 3. MOONLIGHT PLUNKET FETE The Plunket iSociety’s Moonlight Fete on Friday next, February 19, bids fair to be a very attractive entertainment. So much interest is being shown in it that the promoters feel sure they have the sympathy of the public and are most grateful for all the help that has been offered. The Municipal Band is providing a programme of modern dance music, and a feature of the evening will be the special dance items for the supper interval. These are being given by Miss Barker’s pupils and Miss Gene Gibbons. £een at the end of the lawn, with coloured lights among the fine old trees that form their setting, those dances are a very pretty sight. Supper, cards, ices and a produce stall are all being arranged. Any contributions will be most melcome and can be sent direct to Miss Cook or left at the Rest Room.
