The advantages which tho PacroaTaneatua railway confers in the de' vdoiMncnt of country lands were commented upon at last evening’s meeting of the Tauranga Chamber of Com mcrce. Reference was made to th-? movement for the settlement of some thousands of acres of idle lands, easily accessible to the line, between Tauranga, and Katikati, and it was contended these lands could only bo developed with the aid of the railway. The chamber appointed a committee to co-operate with representatives of local bodies in making representations to the Railways Board against the closing of the lino.
