This innovation is to eater for the ever-increasing number of women smokers who travel on the main lines to Aylesbury and Uxbridge and who prefer to smoke in an atmosphere unpolluted by cigars or pipes. ' Girl Guide Camp A happy party of Girl Guides returned to Wanganui from Porewa, Marton, yesterday, where they had spent an enjoyable fortnight camped on Mr. Alan Marshall’s property. This year 65 Guides under the charge of several officers attended the camp. After vari--1 ous camp duties had been, carried out the rest of the time was spent in recreation, swimming, hikes, camp concerts, etc. Each day closed with camp fires and games. A party consisting of Guides from Mangaweka, Hunterville and Taihape will go into camp to-day. A Guide Wliare Through the combined efforts of the Brownie Guiders of the Wellington Division there has been opened awharc named “Te Ruru Kowhanga.” or the Owl’s Nest. This is situated at Wai-nui-o-Mata and is set back against a hill amid lovely scenery. There is a Tittle rustic bridge, which leads tn an avenue bordered on either side by beautiful ferns and manuka. There is also an orchard and a place for games and exercises. So that visitors can find their way easily a sign has been placed along the road. New Girls’ Hostel Following several requests for boarding for school girls. Misses Munro and Kenny (who are both registered nurses) have decided to establish a hostel at Armagh House, Marton. The grounds consist of six acres, so there will be a home farm attached. They will be pleased to forward further information.
