TEAM FOR WANGANUI C. E. EVANS TO COMPETE WELLINGTON TEAM A team of over thirty athletes and officials of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club will be leaving Wellington on January 23 for Wanganui to meet the Wanganui Club’s representatives that evening in a series of contests at Cook’s Gardens. The visit is being made in return for that paid by the Wanganui Club’s team to Wellington early in December. Members of the Wellington Club who are definitely making the trip are as follows: A. Burge, G. Saunders, A. Mackay, W. H. Fisher, J. T. Fleming, A. Welply, 11. Le Grove, J. Josephs, F. Bradey, HG. Murray, L. Roberts, C. Gibbons, A. Hollis, A. F. Harding, T. Wiggs, J. McDonald, C. Smith. Ladies.—Misses E. Sharp, E. Blatherwick, S. Corbett, D. Hurley, J. Willson, Af. Deslandes, K. Bciswell, F. Al’artiu, T. Kench, E. Gollop, J, Sharp, C. Alillar. The Wellington sprint, champion, C. H. Jenkins, has notified that he will be unavailable. It is possible yet that the party will be added to before the end of next week. Officials and others accompanying the team will be Messrs. R. W. McVilly (president of the. N.Z A.A.A. and patron of the Wellington Club), A. C. Kitto (president of the Wellington Club), W. Sutherland, J. Finn, S. Leeder, G. Slade, T> W. Leslie, T. Fletcher. The New Zealand 440yds and 880yds champion, C. E. (“Don”) Evans, of Taihape, who is regarded as a possible candidate for this year’s New Zealand Olympic Games team, will be a competitor at the meeting. Evans is focussing his attention on the New Zea land championship meeting In Auckland in Afarch, and until that is ever he intends running at only three meeting? outside any meetings in the Taihape district. The three will be the Wan ganui-Wellington meeting, the West Coast (North Island'' Centro championships, and the New Zealand championships.
