SURPRISE FOR INTRUDER
CONSTABIj; HIDDEN IN SHOP INCIDENT AT TAUMARUNUI TAUMARUNUI, Jan. 18. When Constable Bruce was on duty in the main street of Taumarunui on I Saturday night he found that the front i door of the Bargain Stores bad been I forced. He decided to take up a position inside the shop °nd await further developments. Early on Sunday morning a man entered the shop and while he was selecting articles of clothing Constable Bruce emerged from his hiding place and effected an arrest. Frederick Walters, aged 39, a railway ganger, appeared in the Police Court yesterday charged with breaking and entering and stealing three pairs of men’s trousers valued at £1 14s 7d. Accused was remanded, bail being ‘allowed.
