HISTORIC MANSION
SITE IN LONDON SOLD. MEMORIES AND TREASURES LONDON, Nov. 15. Lansdowne House, one of the most historic mansions in London, built for Lord Bute in 1766, will bo shorn of much of its picturesqueness by the sale of portion of its site. The Bruton Club Estate has paid £107,000 for the par' sold, and, in adtrophy. At all events it looks as now road to replace the picturesque Lansdowne Passage, in order to connect Berkeley and Curzon Streets. Lansdowne House cost Lord Buto £22,000. In it Priestley, in 1774, discovered oxygen, and the conferences were held which led to the independence of America. It contains many art treasures, notably the Lansdowne marbles.
