IRON AND STEEL
PROPOSED TRADE MERGER. LARGE BRITISH CONCERNS. LONDON, Nov. 15. A merger is proposed of the entir north-east coast iron and steel industry with an output of 4,000,000 tons a year, with a view to capturing home and foreign trade. The firing mainly concerned are the Dorman, Long and Furness group Pease and Partners, Ltd., and the Consett Iron Company, with a combined capital of £4.000,000. The combine, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, represents a big step forward in the nationalisation of the steel industry.
