TIMBER MILL ABLAZE
A BLAZE AT DARGVILLE [ Per Press Association. ] DARGAVILLE, Nov. 24. Shortly after noon to-day a fire broke out at the Dargavillo Sawmilling Company ’s mill. Tlie brigade were soon on the job, but a gale was blowing behind the fire, and as water had to be taken a distance to the seat of the outbreak, the efforts were not of much effect. The milling department was practically destroyed but. the planing department, railway engine shed and other buildings adjoining the mill were saved. The fire occurred at a particularly unfortunate time as the mill had just resumed work after many months of part-time. A shipment of timber had just left for Australia and further orders for tho same dcstination would have kept tho mill employed for some months ahead. Large stocks uf timber in the yards wore untouched. The insurance is not available. The owners are Rope brothers, trading under the name of the Dargavillo Sawmilling Company. The loss is estimated at several thousand sterling.
