NO DEFINITE DATE YET SESSION’S CLOSE AWAITED [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Nov. 5. In the House of Representatives the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. H. E. Holland) urged the Right Hon. G. W. Forbes to state the exact date on which the election would be held. Mr. Forbes said it was impossible to do so until it was known exactly when the end of the session would be reached. The Finance Bill and Mortgagors’ Relief Bill had yet to be introduced. He thought the session might very well end early next week. THE MARSDEN SEAT ANOTHER INDEPENDENT [ Per Press Association. ] WHANGAREI, Nov. 5. Mr. William Jones, who represented the Reform Party’s interests’in the 1925-28 Parliament and was defeated by Mr. A. J. Murdoch at the last election, has declared his intention to contest the seat as Independent Reform Coalitionist. OTAGO CENTRE SEAT INDEPENDENT REFORM MR. Mr. Charles Todd advised tho Otago executive of tho Reform League by telegram from Wellington to-day that the newspapers had no authority for announcing his withdrawal as a Reform candidate from the Otago Central contest. It is understood that Mr. Todd’s decision to contest the seat against the Coalition United candidate Mr. W. A. Bodkin, M.F., is the result of the announcement that Mr. Peter McSkimming, who was selected as the United candidate for the Clutha seat before the Coalition was arranged, will stand as an Independent Coalitionist against the sitting Reform member, Mr. Fred Waite. Mr. James Taylor has definitely decided not to contest the Dunedin North seat. LABOUR IN OAMARU A CANDIDATE CHOSEN [ Per Press Association. ) OAMARU, Nov. 5. The Oamaru branch of the Labour Party to-night selected Mr. Percival Maltrus, of Hillgrove, a farmer, to contest the Oamaru seat in the Labour in terests. This is the first time that the 1 constituency has been contested by the party.
