ANTI-LABOUR FORCES

FULL AGREEMENT REACHED SYDNEY, Oet. 14. A conference of anti-Lubour forces, including delegates to the National Country Parties and tho All-For-Aus-tralia League, reached a full agreement on the policy for the Federal elections, which are expected early in the year. It was decided to create a council representative of industrial, commercial, rural, and political interests, with city and country wings, the leadership of which will be decided at •i later date. VICTORIAN PARLIAMENT

A GOVERNMENT DEFEAT MELBOURNE, Oet. 14. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Argyle) moved the adjournment of the House to discuss the Ministry's refusal to grant more money for a Royal Commission on British settlers. The motion was agreed to by 28 votes to 26, tho Government being defeated. It is not expected that the Government will take the defeat as vital.

WAR PENSIONS

GREAT AUSTRALIAN BURDEN Received Oct. 14, 10.25 p.m. CANBERRA, Oct. 14. Thero are 283,322 war pensions in the Commonwealth involving an annual liability of £7,774,806. Tho sum of £24,000,000 already has been expended on general reparation and £06,722,511 on war pensions since the inception of tho reparation operations.
