PATEA ROBBERY
THIEF IN MAYOR’S HOUSE CASH AND KEYS REMOVED. While the Jubilee festivities of the Borough of Patea were at their height ou Tuesday afternoon the residence of the Alayor (Mr. F. Ramsbottom) wat broken into. Six pounds in cash was removed from a wallet and the keys ot the safe on his business premises taken. Air. Ramsbottom and his son, anxious to be early for the Jubilee functions, changed their clothes hurriedly, the son donning his Fire Brigade uniform to take his place in the procession. The thief apparently entered by the son’s bedroom window and took .i wallet containing £6 in cash from his trouser pocket. From Air. Ramsbottom’s clothe he secured the keys to the business premises and the safe.
Constable Kelly has the matter in hand.
