PATEA’S JUBILEE
CELEBRATIONS CONTINUE
GATHERING OF OLD IDENTITIES
A notable gathering of old identities was greeted in the Patea Borough Council Chambers yesterday by the Mayor and Mayoress of Patea (Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ramsbottom) and were accorded fitting welcome to the festivities marking the town’s Jubilee. Morning tea was provided and the guests, after a happy time spent in reminiscent mood, were photographed. The Minister of Health (the Hon. J. A. Young) representing the Coalition Government, was present in the early stages, and after being introduced to several present he left by the Wellington express.
Yesterday afternoon the Jubilee programme was carried through another stage, a hockey match between teams from Hawera and a big sports gathering eventuating on the Domain. In the evening the Jubilee Ball, staged under artistic and appropriate decorations in the Town Hall, was a brilliant success.
