ISLAND FRUIT
MAUI POMARE ARRIVES. LARGE CARGO BROUGHT. L Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON. Oct. 14. The Maui Pomare, from Niue Island, brought a cargo of 8221 cases of Samoan bananas and 650 cases of oananaa from Niue Island. The fruit is in excellent condition. This is the largest cargo of fruit that the ship has brought from tho islands since the hurricane did such damage there some months ago. Captain Bolton, master of the Maui Pomare, stated that the islands were recovering well from the effects of the hurricane, but Niue Island was now suffering from a drought, and this was having its effect on the fruit.
