SISTERS RE-UNITED

A LAPSE OF 20 YEARS. INCIDENT AT NEW PLYMOUTH. NEW PLYMOUTH, Oct. 10. A strange coincidence was responsible for the meting at New Plymouth of two sisters, who had not seen or heard of each other for 20 years. A visitor from Englrnd was travelling through New Zealand and at New Plymouth, being interested in the working of hospitals and charitable aid in stitutions. called on a member of the Taranaki board, whr offered to escort her to the hospital and show her over the buildings. He thought his guest resembled a woman he had met before. Comment on this was made and a married woman's name was mentioned. “How strange that you should men tion a thing like that," was the woman’s reply. “I don’t suppose it has anything to do with the matter, but J had a sister of that name who left home over 20 years ago and we have heard nothing of her since." As the board member knew the address of the woman mentioned he motored tho visitor to the house. When the two women met they recognised each other at once and a joyful reconciliation followed. The sequel to the happy discovery was that the sister who had been lost to her relatives for so long, being without encumberan e, returned with her sister to England.
