RUAPEHU SEARCHERS

DISPOSAL OF THE FUND DELIBERATIONS OF COMMITTEE [ Per Press Association. ] TAUMARUNUI, Oct. 10. The committee set up Dy the Mayor of Auckland to deal with the Ruapehu searchers’ fund of £7OB met at Chateau Tongariro to-day. There were present Messrs T. A. Bly th (chairman), J. Cullen (park warden), C. A. Boles (Mayor of Taumarunui), G. Goldfinch (Mayor of Ohakune), and W. Harris (Mayor of Raetihi). A number of recommendations were decided upon and will be forwarded to the Mayor of Auckland for his approval. The committee considered at some length the large number of claims of searchers for lost clothing and agreed to hold over the final decision until the Mayors of Taumarunui, Raetihi and Ohakune had made further investigations into the claims submitted. The committee decided that the claim of the Tongariro National Park Board be deferred until the board advertised for missing clothing and equipment. A further meeting will be held on October 29 to finalise the searchers’ claims.
