PATEA JUBILEE

TO-MORROW’S ARRANGEMENTS THE DETAILED PROGRAMME. Fifty years’ existence as a borough will be celebrated by Patea to-morrov? and on Wednesday, Thursday, Fridays and Saturday, and on Sunday there will bo special commemoration, services in the churches. The Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Health, is to be present to-morrow, representing the Prime Minister and tho Coalition Government. Jubilee arrangements provide for a special meeting of the Borough Council to take place at 1.30 p.m. to-morrow to mark that body’s fiftieth year. At two o’clock there will be a monster processio of all lodges, sports bodies, institutions and schools. This is timed to leave the Town Hall at two o’clock for the Domain. At approximately three o’clock to-morrow there will be a Maori gathering and display, including pois and hakas at the .Domain. The day wil be concluded wit! a Jubilee dinner in the town hull supper room. The Mayor (Mr. F. Ramsbottom) wil] preside at this function. On Wednesday there is to be an old identKies’ re-union in the Borough Coun cil Chambers at 10.30 a.m. In the afternoon there will a hockey match on the Domain between visiting awtra team and a big spot's gathering. At night there will be a grand Jubilee ball in th© Town Hall. There is to be a big fancy dress carnival in the Town Hall at night or children and on Friday a special children’s sports meeting.
