HUNTERVILLE

' MAGISTRATE’S COURT l Mr R. M. Watson, S.M., presided at the monthly sitting or Hunterville Court on Friday. In a civil case L. J. T. McManaway obtained judgment for £l6 against Nellie Smith, with costs 10s. Two men from Rata were charged with theft of turkeys and one with from Porewa with mischief. The charge arose from shooting of turkeys on tho property of JMr D. Rowe. The first two were fined £3 and costs 10s, and ordered to pay for one turkey each at 15s per bird. The third man was fined £2 and costs 10s, and ordered to pay for one bird at 15s. The magistrate said this was not the first case of shooting turkeys and the court must take a serious view of the offence. A tenancy case in which T. Hammond sought to obtain possession of a dwelling occupied by E. J. Samuels, was adjourned till next court day, the defendant agreeing to move out in the meantime. PERSONAL Mr and Mrs W. H. Millward and Mr Athol* Millward, Wellington, are spending the week end in Wanganui.
