FAMOUS JERSEY STUD OFFERINGS AT WANGANUI BULL FAIR. “GOWANLEA’S” BEST. At the Wanganui Annual Bull Fair there will be offered, on behalf of tho “Gowanlea Jersey Stud,” several yearlings by tho imported sire, “Oxford Beau’s Pretty Oxford,” and from C.O.R. tested dams, also one two-year-old by the same sire from that great cow, “Hawkesbury Gem.” Mr. Robb intends, if possible, to exhibit at the Bull Fair the first heifer of his imported sire to demonstrate the type and production that he expected his sire to pass on. She will be entered for the C.O.R. Test. Mr. Roob has been testing for a number of years and for the past nine years the official Government tester has never missed a month, and tho result is quite a large number of first-class certificates has been gained. At the 1930 National Show ana sale held at Ciaudelands, where some 405 bulls were entered, it was gratifying to Mr. Robb to have secured a first prize for best yearling bull in his division, 2nd prize for three-year-old bull and 3rd prize for best group of three yearling bulls.. Also at the same show and sale held this year, particulars are to hand that six yearling bulls sired by a son of one of the “Gowanlea” matrons, averaged 37| guineas. Also at the Ruakura Government farm sale this season 24 head of yearling bulls, many not more than nine months old, averaged 34 guineas each, most of which were sired by “Holly Oak Beauty Knight,” a son of “Hawkesbury Golden Peer,” who is from “Hawkesbury Peeress,” C.O.R. 7121b5. fat, a maternal sister to Mr. Robb’s great cow “Hawkesbury Gem,” whose two-year-old son is to be offered at tho Fair. Also a yearling bull to be offered is from a granddaughter of “Hawkesbury Peeress.” In fact, the Hawkesbury—Soumise breeding predominates in practically every 1 i Gowanlea” bull to be offered.—P.B.A.
