M Tho Governor-General has concluded anongenients for the endowment of an Oratory Medal for competition among the New Zealand University Colleges The conditions are that it will be held triennial in each of the four centres in turn under the auspices of the National Union of (Students, the subject to be a great man or woman connected with New Zealand, Maori or I‘akehu, or an outstanding incident in New Zetland history. Tho prize shall be won on the award of the donor*of the pri>e or of a majority of throe <»1 five mr.Kulo judges, to be chosen by the debasing committee of tho National Union of Students, no winner to be again eligible to compete. The medal is ono and five-eighths inches in diameter, over an eighth in. h thick of eightccn-carat gobi. On '.he obverse is a representation of a Maor. meeting house surrounded by a Maori design. Actually the scroll is copied from tho ornamentation on the rafter of a meeting house at Whakarewarewa. On tho reverse is the Governor’s coat of arms surrounded bv the words “Tho Bledislne Modal for Orntorv. ”
